SUBJECT:

CRAFT SER REGARDING THE PSS FOR RESAR SP/90  ;

Enclosed are 15 copies of my letter to Mr. W. J. Johnson, Manager of the Nuclear Safety Department Westinghcuse Electric Corporation, dated March 1988, forwarding the staff's Draft SER (DSER) on the "front-end" portion of Mcdule 16 "Probabilistic Safety Study", of the PDA application for the RESAR SP/90 design. These copies are being provided to inform the CRGR members and staff of our progress in reviewing the PDA application.

The rest of the PDA application is presently under review, and the staff plans to issue additional DSERs through June 1988, as necessary. The staff will evaluate any additional input from Westinghcuse and the ACRS, and incorporate 1 it into its final SER, scheduled to be issued in October 1988.

Should CRGR desire further information about our review, we will be pleased to discuss it with them, i
