The purpose of this chapter is to provide a simple listing of the major PSA products required by Reference

The purpose of this chapter is to provide a simple listing of the major PSA products required by Reference 1. Section 2.0 discusses maintenance of the PSA models which are the primary PSA products.

2.0 PSA MODEL UPDATE FREQUENCY The primary products produced by the PSA group are the North Anna and Surry PSA models. In order to support the safe and efficient operation of the stations it is a requirement that the models be updated periodically to_ what has been called the II as-built operated II condition of the station. Therefore, periodic model revisions should be made corresponding roughly to the refueling outage schedules since this is the time that most plant changes are implemented.
2.0   PSA MODEL UPDATE FREQUENCY The primary products produced by the PSA group are the North Anna and Surry PSA models. In order to support the safe and efficient operation of the stations it is a requirement that the models be updated periodically to_ what has been called the II as-built as-operated II condition of the station.         Therefore, periodic model revisions should be made corresponding roughly to the refueling outage schedules since this is the time that most plant changes are implemented. Since the refueling is performed at about 18 month intervals this is the appropriate interval for revisions. It should be noted however, that an update could be made at any time deemed appropriate by management to account for an intermediate outage or to allow for other model revisions.

The Severe Accident Management Guideline           (SAMG)   Program is controlled by procedure VPAP-2604.             The   VPAP   includes   a requirement in Step 5.8 that changes to the IPE must be considered for initiating changes to the SAMGs         The intent of the VPAP is to include changes to the PSA model (the PSA model is the replacement to the IPE) .       Therefore, one output from a model update is to document the significant changes to the model in an ET that discusses how the dominant sequences have changed since the last update.     This discussion should identify any proposed enhancements to station procedures, including the SAMGs, resulting from the PSA model update.     The ET can be used to determine the necessary changes to operator training and procedure improvements.

Individual sequences could be listed and discussed. The product to be provided is the signifcant contributors to core damage. The method by which this information is conveyed can change to meet specific user needs.

The Severe Accident Management Guideline (SAMG) Program is controlled by procedure VPAP-2604. The VPAP includes a requirement in Step 5.8 that changes to the IPE must be considered for initiating changes to the SAMGs The intent of the VPAP is to include changes to the PSA model (the PSA model is the replacement to the IPE) . Therefore, one output from a model update is to document the significant changes to the model in an ET that discusses how the dominant sequences have changed since the last update. This discussion should identify any proposed enhancements to station procedures, including the SAMGs, resulting from the PSA model update. The ET can be used to determine the necessary changes to operator training and procedure improvements.

The list of PSA products is presented in Table 1. This list indicates the product, update frequency and the end user .
