.M50-80(09-02)-0 ILLINDIS POWER COMPANY IP 500 SOUTH 27TH STREET, DECATUR, ILLINOIS 62525 September 2, 1980 Mr. Walter P. Haass, Chief Quality Assurance Branch Division of Engineering Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555

Dear Mr. Haass:

Clinton Power Station Units 1 & 2 Docket Nos. 50-461 and 50-462 Construction Permit Nos. CPPR-137 & CPPR-138 Mr. R. C. Knop, NRC Region III, suggested that we notify you of a recent organizational change involving the Clinton Power Station. We have organized three technical departments under a single corporate officer; Nuclear Station Engineering, Clinton Power Station Operations, and Quality Assurance. Mr. A. J. Budnick, Director-Quality Assurance, now reports directly to me.

This establishes QA at the same level of reporting as the Manager of CPS Operations and the Manager of Nuclear Station Engineering. The reorganization anticipates our changing needs as we prepare for the transition from current construction work to plant operation. It provides greater separation of QA from line organizations and establishes QA at a higher organizational level.

If you have any comments or questions regarding this change, please do not hesitate to write or call me.

Sincerely, y' h00l rV S Lv. ' Koch /!D Vice President cc: J. G. Kenpler, NFC Region III B. C. Buckley, NRC Clinton Project Manager, Washington, D.C.
