OF THE March 2008 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING WITH FENOC On March 25, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., the NRC conducted an Annual Assessment Meeting with First Energy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland, PA. The NRC requested the meeting with FENOC management to present NRCs assessment of the safety performance of the Beaver Valley Units 1 and 2 for the calendar year 2007.
 
A notice of the licensee meeting was issued on March 10, 2008, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) web page (ADAMS Accession No. ML080700965).
On March 25, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., the NRC conducted an Annual Assessment Meeting with First Energy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center in Midland, PA. The NRC requested the meeting with FENOC management to present NRC's assessment of the safety performance of the Beaver Valley Units 1 and 2 for the calendar year 2007.  
The NRC presented and discussed its assessment of the safety performance of Beaver Valley Units 1 and 2 for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2007, as documented in our letter dated March 3, 2008 (ADAMS Accession No. ML080610009). The NRC presentation included background on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP), Beaver Valleys assessment results, and an overview of planned inspections for the remainder of the year. The NRCs overall assessment was that FENOC operated Beaver Valley Units 1 and 2 in a manner that preserved public health and safety. During the meeting, FENOC stated they were in general agreement with NRCs assessment and discussed planned areas for improvement. The NRC and FENOC presentations are available on ADAMS (ADAMS Accession No. ML080700393 and ML080880088).
 
A number of local officials and FENOC employees observed this meeting and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding FENOCs performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations at the end of the meeting. The question and answer period accommodated all individuals who desired to speak or ask questions after the business portion of the meeting had been completed.
