Dear Mr. Heacock:

By letter dated August 12, 2008, Dominion Energy Kewaunee, Inc. (Dominion) submitted an application for renewal of operating license DPR-43 for the Kewaunee Power Station. The staff of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) is reviewing this application in accordance with the guidance in NUREG-1800, "Standard Review Plan for Review of License Renewal Applications for Nuclear Power Plants."

Due to request from the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS), a schedule change must be made to the ACRS Subcommittee meeting for review of the Safety Evaluation Report (SER) of the Kewaunee Power Station, License Renewal Application. This change also affects certain other milestone dates in the staff's schedule for reviewing this application. The dates for issuing the final SER and for the final decision, Director License Renewal, remain unchanged. Enclosed is a table of affected milestones, along with the old and new dates.

These schedule changes were discussed with Paul Aitken, of your staff. If you have any questions, please contact me by telephone at 301-415-3873 or by e-mail at John.Daily@nrc.gov.
