Subject:
FORCED OUTAGE GREATER THAN 48.,HOUTS At 12:26 a.m. on 10/16, the plant scrammed on high neutron flux from 89*4 power during 1 a weekly Turbine Stop Valve surveillance test. A failure in the Electrical Pressure Regulator (EPR) caused main steam premre oscillations which triggered the APRM high flux scram before operators could shift to the Mechanical Pressure Regulator (MPR).
The licensee entered the drywell to identify sources of leakage and discovered a potential Control Rod Drive stub tube leek which may require stub tube rolling. As of 10:00 a.m. on 10/19 the licensee was making preparations to perform a hydrostatic test at 500 psig to pinpoint the laakage. Startup could occur as early as Wednesday, 10/21 if stub tube rolling is not required.
The resident inspectors are onsite monitoring the licensee's actions. '
The State of New York has been notified.
