The purpose of the aquested amendments is to provide a specific numerical retting for reactor trip, reactor coolant pump trip, and auxiliary feedwater (AFW) initiation on loss of ,

power to the 4 KV buses. Existing Technical Specifications do not define a distinct numerical setting.

With that submittal, we provided a copy of the calculation supporting the proposed value for the trip and ,

AFW initiation settings. During a conference call with our Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) J Project Manager and NRC technical reviewer on September 11,1998, the reviewer requested, and we i agreed to provide, the supporting uncertainty calculation surporting the setpoint calculation we had provided with our May 28,1998 submittal. 3 l

Enclosed is calculation PBNP-IC-33, Revision 1. This calculation verifies that the setpoint calculation provided with our May 28,1998, submittal is conservative and considered appropriate uncertainties.

We believe this calculation is responsive to your September 11,1998, request.

Matrix Relays Uncertainty /Setpoint Calculation PBNP-IC-33 Revision I l

Dear Mr. Gross:

Per your request, Duke Engineering & Services is issuing Rev.1 of PBNP-IC-33; the 4.16KV Reactor Trip Undervoltage Matrix Relays Uncertainty /Setpoint Calculation This calculation has been revised to incorporate the Analytical Limit (AL) developed in Sargent and Lundy calculation 09334281-01 Rev.1. This calculation has also been revised the drift values from 18 months to 24 months i25% based on new as-found / as-left data.

This calculation concludes that the existing voltage setpoint is acceptable with rget to the existing Technical Specification Limit and the voltage analytical limit. This calculation also concludes that the existing time delay setting is acceptable with respect to the time delay analytical liniit.

By copy of this letter, DEAS calculation PBNP-IC-33 Revision 1 is being transmitted to you in accordance with Wisconsin Electric Procedure NP 7.2.4, Revision 1," Calculation Preparation, Review, and Approval."
