W. Jessup Meeting Summary:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted the meeting in accordance with NRC Management Directive 3.5, Attendance at NRC Staff-Sponsored Meetings (ML21180A271).

On September 26, 2022, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a closed meeting with TerraPower, LLC (TerraPower) to provide the NRC staff with an overview of the in-vessel instrumentation used in the Natrium design. Participants included representatives from TerraPower, the U.S.

Department of Energy, General Electric Hitachi, and Bechtel. The enclosure provides the list of meeting attendees.

The NRC staff began the meeting with an introduction and explained that the meeting would be closed due to the discussion of proprietary information. During the meeting, TerraPower provided the NRC staff with an overview of the Natrium reactor design and its in-vessel instrumentation. The discussion focused on instrumentation for monitoring temperature, neutron flux, pressure, and flow.

The NRC staff and TerraPower representatives discussed the next steps for future interactions regarding the Natrium reactor design.
