OF MARCH 15, 2022, AND APRIL 7, 2022, CLOSED MEETINGS WITH TERRAPOWER, LLC TO DISCUSS THE HUMAN FACTORS ENGINEERING FOR THE NATRIUM REACTOR (EPID NO. L-2021-LRM-0071)

On March 15, 2022, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a closed videoconference meeting with TerraPower, LLC (TerraPower) to provide the NRC staff with an overview of the human factors engineering for the Natrium Reactor. The meeting was continued on April 7, 2022. The presentation slides can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML22074A221. Participants included personnel from the NRC staff, TerraPower, General Electric Hitachi, Bechtel, and Duke Energy.

The public meeting notice for the March 15, 2022, meeting, dated February 17, 2022, can be found at ML22049A028. The public meeting notice for the April 7, 2022, meeting, dated April 4, 2022, can be found at ML22095A003. The Enclosure provides the list of meeting attendees.

The NRC staff began the meeting with an introduction and explanation of logistical information.

During the meeting, TerraPower provided the NRC staff with an overview of the human factors engineering for the Natrium Reactor, including the human factors engineering program scope and elements. The NRC staff asked questions about the information presented and Terrapower representatives responded. Finally, the TerraPower representatives and the NRC staff discussed next steps for future pre-application activities.
