The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted the meeting in accordance with NRC Management Directive 3.5, Attendance at NRC Staff-Sponsored Meetings (ADAMS Accession No. ML21180A271).

On April 13, 2023, the NRC staff held an open meeting with TerraPower to discuss the Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Defense-in-Depth and Diversity (D3) assessment for the Natrium design. Participants included representatives from TerraPower, General Electric Hitachi, Bechtel, the U.S. House of Representatives, and the Department of Energy. The enclosure provides the list of meeting attendees.

The NRC staff began the public meeting with introductions and an explanation of logistical information. During the meeting TerraPower representatives presented an overview of the Safety Case Methodology, Licensing Basis Event Selection, Defense-In-Depth Adequacy and I&C Support of the Natrium Safety Case for the Natrium design.

The NRC staff and TerraPower representatives discussed the next steps for future interactions regarding the Natrium reactor design.
