Both modification installed a temporary line of PVC-(Schedule 80)1 piping to the' RHUTs. Prior-to use after 1985, the temp.orary. piping was'hydrotested, barrier taped and-radiation area posted. The tanks . were drairied.' via the temporary piping pursuant to an abnormal operating procedure' with required walkdowns every one-half. of an hour. Prior .to -

F 1985, this evolution was not controlled by.~ formal procedure.

' The concentration of tritius' in the DRCST and the'NWHUT was -

MPC (1. MPC = 3E-3 uCi/al). 10 CFR 20.106 'and- Appendix B to 'l-CFR 20 limit releases off-site -to 1 MPC. The water transfer;

' to the RHUTs was sufficiently diluted prior to release-off-s '

to assure the l' MPC limit would not be violated. -

These temporary modifications were changes to the facility,a -

described in the USAR -(Reference 1). .'Because the changes, we.

- only temporary, the USAR .was not updated to reflect the temporary system operation. - The temporary modification of-transferring DRCST water to the'RHUTs is being incorporated' become a permanent modification to the plant.
