Dear Mr. Bauser:

By letter dated May 19,1972, you wem infomed of the Ccrrnissi n's issuanoe of anended licenses (DPR-29 and DPR-30) to Comanwealth Edison Conpany (CEC) for operation of each of Quad-Cities Unita 1 rad 2 (located in Ibck Island Cowity, Illinois) at various levels up to 90% of rated power (2260 MWt). The 90% operation was only if, after exhausting all means mascnably available, system load denanded it.

This letter is to infom you that cm August 15, 1972, the above licenses wem further amended to (1) authorize continuous operation of each of the Quad-Cities thits 1 and 2 at 90% of sted power with the diffuser-pipe system in operation, and (2) extend the licenses to expim October 30,1973 Copies of the following items am enclosed for the Comittee's infor-nation:
