By letter dated May 17,1972, you wem infbrmed of the Carmission's issusnoe of amended licenses (DPR-29 and DPR-30) to commonwealth Edison Cuviisiy (CEC) for opemtim of each of Quad-Cities Ihits 1 and 2 (located in Bock Island County, Illinois) at various levels up to 90% of mted power (2260 MWt). 7he 90% operation was only if, after exhausting all means reasonably available, system load demanded it.

'Ihis letter is. to infom you that en August 15, 1972, the above licenses wem further amended to (1) authorize continuous operatim of each of the Quad-Cities thits 1 and 2 at 90% of rated peer with the diffuser-pipe system in opemtim, and (2) extend the licenses to expim october 30, 1973
