Dr. Richard Kranzdorf, Spokesperson Concerned Cal Poly Faculty and Staff 160 Graves Avenue San Luis Obispo, California 93401
Dear Dr. Kranzdorf:
I have received your followup letter of 9 December
- 1983, which provided additional data pertaining to flooding as it affects the
. " Twin Bridges" area and the new concern, "the continuing protlen with sirens being used as the primary method of notifying the population.within the Basic Emergency Planning Zone."
We are addressing the siren concern with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and will notify you of results.
I am enclosing for your information a copy of a
letter we received from FEMA addressing the specific items identified in your November 4, 1983, letter to Chairman Palladino.
Please note the FEMA reply has been coordinated with the State of Cali-fornia and San Luis Obispo County Offices of Emergency Services.
This' response provides information on methodology for developing and evaluating the emergency planning for the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant.
I trust that this answers your concerns.
- Again, let me close with the assurance that we are interested in any concern you'may have and will take appropriate action to assure there is adequate protection of the public health and safety.
It should be noted however, that our actions related to off-site emergency preparedness are based on FEPA evaluations of adequacy.
Sincerely, l6 / h e
