STEAM GENERATOR TUBE LEAK CAUSES UNPLANNED FACILITY SHUTDOWN i The unit _tyn sh6tdown from 100. percent power at 12:00 noon, July 5,
~ 1977, due .to identified tube leakage from the reactor coolant _ system to the secondary system in one of two steam generators. .
FEom 3:00 a.m to 10:00 a.m., July 5,1977, this leak rate increased from 0.006 to 0.01 gpm. The technical specification limit is 0.1 gpm. At 12:00 noon a decision was made by Facility Management to commence an
. orderly shutdown and cooldown for steam generator examination and repairs.
The expecteo outage duration is two weeks. .
Media interest is' expected because of close attention given to operating l
, problems at nuclear power. plants. The State of New York has been informed. i

NRC, Region I, (Philadelphia) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the Plant Superintendent at 1:15 p.m., July 5,1977.
