PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE--PNO-78-13 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of an event of POSSIBLE safety or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

Subject:
STEAM GENERATOR TUBE LEAK CAUSES UNPLANNED FACILITY SHUTDOWN The unit was shutdown from 100 percent power at 11:00 a.m., January 25, 1977 due to a leak in one steam generator.
The leak which was first identi-fied at 6:10 a.m., January 25, was estimated to be about 0.02 gallon per s
minute.
The Technical Specification limit is 0.1 gallon per minute.
Although the leak rate did not exceed the Technical Specification limit,.
the licensee made the decision to shutdown for repairs.
An outage of
!E5E eight days is projected for location and eliminated of the leak.
{'T Media interest is' expected because of attention given to operating prob-lems at nuclear plants.
The State of New York has been informed.
A press O
release is being considered by the licensee.
