!By letter dated December 5,1997,. the Nuclear ~ Regulatory Commission (NRC) l transmitted the results of an inspection conducted at Millstone Unit No. 3. The letter included a Notice of Violation (NOV) citing eight areas where Northeast Nuclear Energy l

' Company's (NNECo) activities were not in compliance with NRC regulations. NNECo {

initially responded to the! NOV :on February 2,1998 (Ref: B16942) and further

/ j supplemented its response item E of the NOV on May 26,1998 (Ref: B17268). In its j  :

supplemental' response, NNECo. committed to review a representative sample of -l setpoint/ capacity calculations for safety-relief valves to ensure that appropriate methods  !

and assumptions were used in determining the backpressure and its effect on relief valve setpoint and capacity. NNECo committed to complete the review by September ,

/j The date for completion of the referenced commitment has been changed to December j

-31,1998. :The schedule revision is made to accommodate priorities established for j

- engineering backlog reduction. This notification is being made in accordance with the commitment management guidance established by the Nuclear Energy Institute.
