FINAL SAFETY ANALYSIS' REPORT UPDATE

Dear Mr. Fairtile:

Enclosed are eleven (11) copies of the updated Yankee Nuclear Power Station (YNPS)

Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR), revised as of April 30,1997, unless otherwise noted. In accordance with our commitment in Reference (b), the updated YNPS FSAR is being submitted biennially; the basis of this schedule was given in the same reference.

The attached Table 1 provides a summary listing of the changes to the YNPS FSAR Update that was previously submitted in Reference (b). All of the FSAR changes can be classified in one of the following categories:

  • Changes that are strictly administrative in nature (e.g., correction of typographical errors).

. Editorial additions that describe the current status and configuration of a system. As indicated  ;

'in Reference (b), periodic updates will not delete material as systems are dismantled' however,

' they will indicate the portion of systems removed.

  • Administrative changes that clarify and/or supplemen: existing information.
  • Administrative changes that update decommissioning activities, schedule and cost estimate by incorporating information from the YNPS License Termination Plan that was submitted in Reference (c).
  • Change.s that reflect the implementation of engineering design changes (EDCs).
  • Changes that reflect the implementation of decommissioning work packages (DWPs).
