l 2.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE The purpose of this Quality Instruction is to supplement j
Reference 1-A and to provide inspection criteria and tech-1' niques for Electrical Quality Control Inspection Personnel in the accomplishment of. " Class 1E Electrical Equipment Installation" inspections.
3.0 INSTRUCTION y
3.1 CLASS 1E ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION I
The QC Inspector shall perfonn an inspection on electrical equipment installations in acconiance with the provisions in Reference 1A, and shall include, but not limited to, the following items:

(1) a.
Electrical equipment, including switchgear, motor control centers, panels, and components of equip-I ment shall be installed and connected as shown on the engineer's and manufacturer's approved i
drawings.

The handling and installing of all e
equipment shall include par +.icular attention to integrity of finish and avoidance of distortion of i
large panels.
The craft shall use extrane care in handling and moving control panels and panelboard equipment to I
avoid impact which might damage celicate instru-mentation or equipment mounted on the panels.
c.
All electrical equipment being installed shall be secured in place, shall be level, plumb, true and have a neat workmanship appearance.
d.
When two sections of a piece of equipment are being installed, the QC Inspector shall inspect all main bus splices, ground bus splices and other electrical connections at shipping breaks to assure that all connections have been made as required to complete the installation.
e.
Ground buses on switchgear and motor control centers shall be connected to the station grounding system as shown on drawings.

Particular care should be used during the in-spection of that equipment which must withstand seismic loading to ensure that support, hold down and bracing details are properly executed in accordance wi th drawing detail s, and that all bolts and fasteners are tight, and. torqued if requi red.
g.
At no time shall stainless steel equipment came in contact with mercury, lead or other low melting point metals.
Cleaning solutions or other solu-tions and materials containing chlorides con-tacting stainless steel shall contain no more than 15 ppm chlorides or 10 ppm fluorides.

require prior approval in writing from the vendor / engineering.

Baseplates and hilti bolts for electrical I
equipment installations shall be installed per Engineering approved drawings.

QC Personnel shall inspect the installation for location and alignment before grouting can begin.
After inspection, if satisfactory, the QC Inspector will sign the Grout Card Witch releases the' installation to Civil for grouting.

Storage and maintenance requi ranents will continue after equipment has been installed.
3.2 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR REWORK / REMOVAL i
s When rework / removal is required, the quality standards as stipulated for the original installation shall renain the same and where applicable are to be accomplished in accordance with References 1-8 and 1-C.

When rework / modi fication encompasses, i.e.

vendor wi ring, deteminate ' or retenninate etc. the work i
shall be accomplished in strict accordance with the vendor /
nenufacturer requirenents.
4.0 DOCUMENTATION 1
Inspection results shall be documented according to the requirements of Reference 1A.
In instances where a design change is authorized by the engineer, it shall be t
documented on the inspection report P the " REMARKS" section.
Any inconsistencies shall be brought to the attention of the QC Supervisor or Designee for resolution.
If the inconsistency cannot be resolved at this time, the descrepancy shall be documented on a NCR in accordance with t
