2.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE i

The purpose of this Quality Instruction is to supplement Reference 1-A and to provide inspection criteria and t

techniques for electrical Quality Control personnel in the accomplishment of

" Verify Electrical Separation" inspect 1ons.

3.0 INSTRUCTIONS 3.1 VERIFY SEPARATION The QC Inspector is reminded that a thorough research involving drawings and specifications will be necessary to supplement - the guidelines given in this criteria section. is a list of definitions to be used in conjunction with this Instruction.

Minimum separation of six (6) feet shall be main-tained between 6.9 kV. raceway and Nuclear Instru-mentation System (NIS) raceways, c.

A minimum separation of 6'-0" must be maintained between raceway functions 20, 2G, 2K, 30, 3G, 3K, 5K, 6K, SR, SW, 58, SY and NIS cables not in conduit (e.g.,

near electrical penetrations).

NOTE:

Refer to attached table for the voltage level designation.

systems 20, 2G, 2K; 30, 3G, & 3 K; Sk, 6K & SR, SW, SB, & SY. Minimum separation of non-parallel runs of "NIS" conduit and the above mentioned systems (i.e.,

crossing each other at an angle greater than 15 degrees) should attain the above 2'-0" minimum when feasible; however, physical constraints may reduce such separation to 1".

NOTE:

A minimum separation of 2'-0" must be maintained between N.I.S. conduit systems and i

fluorescent lighting fixtures and lighting l

system conduits except for conduits crossing at an angle of more than 15 degrees.

e.

Minimum separation between conduits containing powerj cables (Raceway functions 10, 20, 1G, 2G, 1K. 2K and SK) for a run of 10 ft. or more shalli not be less than the outside diameter (00) of the largest conduit.

Combinations exclusively between Non-1E and Non-1E functions (1K, 2K and SK) shall be addreissed to engineering on Figure 2 (Punch List) of Reference 1-A.

l f.

Minimum separation between a

conduit containing safety related cables and associated cables and the top of an open bottom tr->

having different train ling or channels shall be two (2) feet in cable i

spread room and three (3) feet in general plant j

area.

This separation may be reduced to four (4) inche:s when the tray has a solid cover. When the con-I duit above an open tray contains non-safety related cable, the minimum separation is one inch and no covers are required.
