4.0 DEFINITIONS 4.1 Class "A" Fill shall be either sand containing no more than 12 percent
- material passing a number 200 sleve or pleistocene clay. ,
4.2 Class "9' Fill shall be sand, silt, clay or a combination thereof.
5.0 RESPONSIBILITIES . -
5.1 Ebasco Services, Incorporated is respons-Ible for furnishing and testing all backfill material.
5.2 Ebasco .Sdvices, incorporated shall~ provide J. A. Jones Construction Company
. with a natural subgrade suitable t'o begin backfill operations including compaction of the base.
5.3 J. A. Jones Construction ' Company is to properly place and compact backfill in accordance with drawings, specifications and procedures. .

- l 6.1.1 Sand material for, Class "A" fill shall be spread and leveled in layers not to exceed fifteen (IS) inches in thickness before l

, 6.1.2 All backfill shall begin at walls of buildings and proceed -
outward, u'nless' directed otherwise in writing by Ebasco Services, incorpora ted. - - -
6 A .3 Backfill material will be spread using wh'atever equipment necessary I to insure that the compaction will result in a homogenous mass.
6.1.4 The surface of each lift shall be kept reasonably' smooth and' free
,- of ridges or grooves which might affect the compaction of later.

l 6.1.5 Equipment used for hauling shall follow paths different from each
! other to aid compaction of the entire area and to avoid over-compaction' of any one area. .
6.l.6 All naturally. existing material against which fill'Is to be placed shall be cleaned of all debris and shaved to fresh material. Any (
contaminated material shall be removed and replaced,to the required '
degree of compactlon.
6.1.7 Where fill is placed on naturally existing material on slopes, the
, slope shall be shaved a minimum of six (6) Inches to remove surface vegetation, desiccated material, rain gullies and other discontinuities.
6.1.8 After a lift has been placed and compacted by J. A. Jones Constructic
. Company, and Ebasco has released area (See Attachment B); any l . damage due to J. A. Jones Construction Company construction accidents and/or equipment will be the responsibility of J. A. Jones.
l Damage by others' will be the responsibility of Ebasco Services, Inc.
