This procedure includes the proper references to be used 'by J. A. Jones and subcontractors to comply with specifications and drawings. The utilization of records necessary to provide traceability is also part of this procedure.

4.1 Ebasco Services incorporated is responsible for supplying waterstop material, certification and material testing and testing of all factory i . made splices in accordance with Reference 3 1. ,

70 PERSONNEL ,

Each craf tsman making splices shall be trained in the method of making spilces.

Three (3) " test unit" sample splices shall be made by the craf tsman prlor to making production splices. These three " test units" shall be turned over to the Engineer for testing as required by Reference 31. Addit ional " test un f t" samples shall be made, for testing as required. A log of tralned spilcers j shall be maintained,'see Attachment 12 3.

HANDLING AND INSTALt.ATION OF WATERSTOPS PROJECT TITLE: '!

WATERFORD SES UNIT NO. 3 CONTRACT NO. W3-NY-4 8.0 EQUIPMENT Splicing heater tool, Vinylax No. WC-1, manufactured by Vinylex Corporation, Knoxville, Tennessee and shall be. thermostatically preset for 4600F and operate on 110V A.C.

90 PROCEDUE 9.1 Connect splicing heater tool to 110 A.C. outlet approximately 10 to 15 minutes prior to use to allow heat-up time to reach 460 F.

9.2 Overlap the two pieces of waterstop material to be spliced and cut as required. to ensure matching edges.

9.3 Pres's the straight cut edges against the pre-heated s'plicar heated tool blade for approximately 10 to 20 seconds or until. PVC melts.

9.4 quickly remove the heater tool blade and press the melted edges together to form a neat spilce joint.

95 Do not stretch or move the spilced section for 30 seconds. To cool the material quickly, water may be used. .

10.0 TEST UNITS

" Tost units" shall be made to meet the following requirements: .

10.1 Three (3) " test units" shall be reade by each splicar craf tsman for -

qualification. In addition, one (1) " test unit" shall be made when spilcer craf tsman is changed or as deemed necessary by the Engineer. .

10.2 One (1) '.' test unit" shall be made for each ten (10) field splices.

10.3 " Test units" may be taken from splices made in waterstop in the structure or f rom " companion" waterstep placed alongside the actual waterstop to be used for the sole purpose of obtaining test samples.

11.0 CON 0lTf0NS .

Job made " test units" shall be made under normal ' Job working conditions.

12.0 CENFRAl, J. A. Jones shall correct deficiencles as directed by the Engineer.
