This procedure covers the inspection and check-off of the condition of the excavation, existing concrete surfaces against which concrete will be placed, forms, placing of reinforcing steel and placing of embedded items ni prior to final clearance for concrete placement and ordering concrete'.

{ 4.0 DEFINITIONS m

4.1 Inspector - In this procedure the " Inspector" shall mean the person '

I-g responsible to the Quality Control Civil. Supervisor and who sha11 ensure that the points outlined in this procedure are followed to en: obtain a quality product.

w 4.2 Specifications - Any specifications which are included with the Contract m:

5.1 The Quality Control Civil Supervisor shall be responsible for the checking and recording of the inspection results in this procedure.

5.2 Ihe Quality Control Civil Supervisor or his designee shall be

  • responsible for re riewing tests and tesc reports for acceptance.

5.3 The Inspector shall be responsible to the Quality Control Civil Supervisor for implementing this procedure by inspection of the work as performed.

l 6.0 PROCEDURE l

6.1 Excavation and Foundation 6.1.1 General Surface Inspection - The Inspector shall ensure that all

surfaces upon or against which concrete will beiplaced have

! . been prepared by suitably shaping and thoroughly cleaning,

. washing and unwatering..

6.1.2 Earth Surfaces - The Inspector shall verify that all earth surfaces upon which or against which concrete is to be placed h are prepared in accordance with the Specifications and Drawings.

6.3.3 The Inspector shall verify that reinforcing steel is free of loose scaly rust, objectionable coatings and loose or weak t

in place before and during the placing of concrete as shown on the Drsvings. r 6.4 Imbedded Items 6.4.1 The Inspector shall ensure that anchor bolts, inserts, pipe sleeves, pipes, conduits, ~ wiring, flashing, manhole -

csver frames, instruments and all other embedded items are fixed firmly before concrete is placed. Preparation of contact surfaces depend upon whether or not bond with concrete is

' ' desired. Embedded items shall not be permir.ted to affect ,

! g" 6.6 1 ' Quality Control Documentation - A document titled, Concrete j 2-g Preplacement Checklist Record (QC-34) shall be provided by g the Quality Control Civil Supervisor. This card shall be g maintained near the placement by the Contractor to provide
