SAFETY EVALUATION FOR CALVERT CLIFFS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 DETAILED CONTROL ROOM DESIGN REVIEW TheHumanFactorsAssessmentBranch(HFAB)oftheDivisionofLicensee Performance and Quality Evaluation (DLPQ) has evaluated the Detailed Control Room Design Review (DCRDR) for Baltimore Gas and Electric Company's (BG&E)
Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant Units I and 2.
The evaluation is consistent with Section 18.1, Rev. O of NUREG-0800, " Standard Review Plan for the Review of Safety Analysis Reports for Nuclear Power Plants."
It is the staff's conclusion that the licensee meets the nine DCRDR requirements of Supplement I to NUREG-0737. This conclusion is based on a review of:
1.
A letter from BG&E dated December 31, 1984, submitting the DCROR Sumary Report for Calvert Cliffs 2.
The results of an on-site meeting conducted October 6, 1987 3.
A letter from BG&E dated June 30, 1988, submitting a Supplemental Sumary Report The staff was supported in the review by Science App (TER) was prepared by SAIC lications International Corporation (SAIC). A Technical Evaluation Report and is included as an Attachment to the Safety Evaluation (SE). The staff agrees with the conclusions reached in the TER.
I The results of the staff's evaluation are contained in the SE, Enclosure 1.
No input to the Systematic Assessment of Licensee Performance (SALP) is provided because the staff has not had any significant interaction with the licensee during the close-out of this review.

2 The staff considers TMI Action Item I.D.1 closed for Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant Units 1 and 2, but may confirm by an inspection that corrective actions have been properly and completely implemented. Further changes to the schedule for implementing corrective actions will be considered by the staff only with substantial justification.
