l At 1523 on June 26, 1974, during normal plant operation, the llPCI inverter tripped, rendering the llPCI system inonerable. The inoperability of the llPCI system is in violation of the Limiting Condition for Operation as defiacd in Section 3.5.E.1 of the Technical Specifications which states in part that the HP2I system shall be operable whenever there is irradiated fuel in tbc reactor vessel and reactor pressure is greater than 150 psig.

The reactor uan operating at 79% power at the time of this occurrence.

The inverter uas replaced with an operable sparc and the llPCI system was declared orarabic at 1620. During the time span of IIPCI inoperability, surveillance teating was initiated as required by Technical Specifications Section 4.5.E.2 and was terminated when the llPCI syste n was made operable.
