As defined by Technical Specificationn for the Verriont Yanhec

( Nuclear Power Station, Section 6.7.B.1, we are reporting the following Abnornal Occurrence as A0-73-33 and confirming nur rolophono j conversation with your office.

i At approximately 1530 on December 4,1973, while performing a

inonthly functional test on the Core Spray System, pressure switch l PS14-44B failed to actuate at the required setpoint of 100(+10) psig l as specified in Tabic 3.2.1 of the Technical Specifications.

j runctionally, thin nuitch operates as a pressure permissive in the Automatic Depressurization System indicating the fact that a core spray pump is running.

As a result of the switch failure, the "B" Core Spray Subnysten was declared inoperable at 1535, cnd the operability verification required by Section 4.5. A.2 of t he Technical Specifications was begun.

The reactor was operating at approximately 68% power at the time of this incident.

The switch was immediately reset, functionally tested and verified to be operabic within the specilled tolerance. The "B" Core Spray Subsyntem was declared operable at 1545 on the date of the occurrence.
