SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE UNIT TWO l JULY, 1983 07-01 to 07-16 Repairs continued on Unit 2's main generator collector rings as a result of last months arcing and resultant fire. After testing the main generator / excitor the unit was brought critical, the generator then tested while turning. Finding no additional problems, the generator I was placed on the grid.

07-16 to 07-19 The unit reached a power level of 756 MWe when it was i

found that a contractor had burned a hole in a bellows seal for the primary containment system. The unit was manually shutdown and cooled down. After repairs the unit was once again placed back in service.

07-19 to 07-31 The unit operated the remainder of the month (with normal i

r power reductions on weekends for surveillances) with a capacity factor of 36.33% and an availability of 45.07%.
