SUBJECT:
PRINCIPAL CORRESPONDENCE CONTROL NO. 11290 We are in~ receipt of the letter from Representative Edward J. Markey, Chairman, Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, dated December ll,1981, to Chaiman palladino concerning allegations of possible failure in the quality assurance program of the Hayward Tyler Pump Company.
Due to the nature of the allegations, it will not be possible for us to meet your completion deadline of January 4,1982. At the present time, we are continuing to analyze the allegations and plan to make contact with the allegers for the surpose of conducting personal interviews with each of them during the wee'c of January _4, 1982.
Based on the results of those interviews, we maf~ find it necessiFf~.to conduct a "special inspection."
If_we detennine_that_a "special__inspec_ tion" it necessary we would expect to complete this task by the end of January 1982, with a final report available on or ab'out February 15, 1982.
