r t-April 1, 1980 Trojan Nuclear Plant Docket 50-344 License NPF-1 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation ATTN:

Mr. A. Schwencer, Chief Operating Reactors Branch #1 Division of Operating Reactors U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C.

Dear Sir:

Attached is " Addendum 1, March 1980 to Report on Testing of Composite Masonry Walls".

This report is an addendum to the " Trojan Nuclear Plant - Report on Testing of Composite Masonry Walls - November 1979" supplied with my December 4, 1979 letter as Attachment 3 to LER 79-15, Supplement 2.

The tests described in this addendum report were con-ducted pursuant to requests made by your Staff at their meeting with Licensee in Bethesda on December 5 and 6, 1979. These confirmatory test results, together with the initial test results, indicate that the value of 40 psi is an appropriate principle tensile stress value at the block-core interface of composite masonry walls.

Sincerely, c:

Mr. R. H. Engelken, Director U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region V Mr. Lynn Frank, Director Ob!
