SUBJECT:
liORTH ANilA 2 - AF'cl FLCU REQUIREME.'iTS The.eactor Systems Branch has reviewed the response by I' orth Anna 2 to the URC information request of March 10, 1980 relating to the basis for auxiliary feedwater flow requirements. Our comments are as follows:
1.
The auxiliary feedwater system must have a capacity to supply 0 3 gallons per minute total to two steam generators following a loss of feedwater event (station blackout).
2.
The auxiliary feedwater system must have a capacity to supply 240 gallons per minute to one steam generator following a feedwater line break event.
The licensing analysis assumes operator action after 30 minutes to properly distribute a flow of cCO gallons per minute to tuo steam generators.
3.
The auxiliary feedwater systen must be guaranteed to satisfy the flow requirements listed in items 1 & 2 above for the acprocriate initiating event considering the Auxiliary Systems Sranch failure criteria for the auxiliary feedwater system.
4.
The Reactor Systems Branch considerations impose no upper bound for maxinum permissible auxiliary feedwater flow rate for this plant; however, an upper limit may be set based upon another branch's criteria, for example, Containment Systems Branch. Containment Systems Branch may be consulted to verify maximum permissible auxiliary feedwater flow rate.
