UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 April 20, 2018 Mr. George A. Lippard, Ill Vice President, Nuclear Operations South Carolina Electric & Gas Company Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station P.O. Box 88, Mail Code 800 Jenkinsville, SC 29065

SUBJECT:

VIRGIL C. SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT NO. 1 - CORRECTION TO AMENDMENTS NOS. 79 AND 202, TO CORRECT TYPOGRAPHICAL ERRORS

Dear Mr. Lippard:

By letter dated March 29, 2018 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML180928510), South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G, the licensee) requested the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRG) approval of a correction of typographical errors in the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station (V.C. Summer), Unit No. 1, Technical Specifications (TSs). The typographical errors were inadvertently introduced during License Amendment No. 79 (ADAMS Accession No. ML012210465), and Amendment No. 202 (ADAMS Accession No. ML15208A029).

The typographical errors were identified in TS Table 6.2-1, "Minimum Shift Crew." Specifically, the acronym for Control Room Supervisor is incorrectly shown as "CRF" rather than "CRS," as requested in the licensee's application dated July 6, 1987 (ADAMS Accession No. 8807140094 (Legacy Library)). Additionally, the acronyms for Reactor Operator and Auxiliary Operator are incorrectly shown as "RD" and "AD," respectively, rather than "RO" and "AO," as requested in the licensee's application dated July 22, 2015 (ADAMS Accession No. ML15205A291 ).

The NRC staff reviewed the information provided in the March 29, 2018 letter, and License Amendments Nos. 79 and 202, and concludes that in TS Table 6.2-1, the acronym for Control Room Supervisor was incorrectly shown as "CRF" rather than "CRS," and the acronyms for Reactor Operator and Auxiliary Operator were incorrectly shown as "RD" and "AD," respectively, rather than "RO" and "AO." Correction of these typographical errors does not change the NRG conclusions provided in approval of License Amendments No. 79 and No. 202 or the no significant hazards considerations as published in the Federal Register.

G. Lippard, Ill Enclosed is the corrected TS page 6-2 for V.C. Summer Amendment Nos. 79 and 202. Please replace the affected page with the enclosed page. If you have any questions, please contact me at 301-415-3867.
