SUMMARY

OF APRIL 17, 2013 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT OPEN HOUSE On April 17, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a public open house at the Spring Hill Suites in Prince Frederick, MD. The NRC conducted the Annual Assessment Open House to discuss the NRCs assessment of the safety performance of the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant in 2012.

A notice of the meeting and agenda was issued on March 19, 2013, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) web page (ADAMS Accession No. ML13078A302). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC website at: http://nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

The NRC presented poster boards and fact sheets, answered questions and listened to statements from members of the public, and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2012, as documented in our letter dated March 4, 2013 (ADAMS Accession No. ML13060A272). The NRC poster boards and fact sheets included background on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP). Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant can be found on the NRC's web site at: www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html.

Members of the public, local officials, and county officials were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plants performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
