Licensee Action on Previously Identified Findings (Closed)OpenItem(498/8617-01): Licensee commitment to qualify procedure for performing magnetic particle examination of a surface coated with paint.

The NRC inspector reviewed the Southwest Research Institute final report issued in December of 1986 for the qualification of magnetic particle examination over painted weld surfaces. The qualification report demonstrated the adequacy of the technique used for the magnetic particle examination of welds during the preservice inspection.

This item is considered closed.

i 3.

Welding of Structural Steel The NRC inspector reviewed the quality documentation for the following safety-related structural welds.

Five welded connections of Joint Classification B on Drawing 3F01-9-S-3037 for the fuel handling building platform.

,

l Four welded connections of Joint Classification B on Drawing 3F01-9-S-3022 for the fuel handling building platform supports for coil units VAH004 and VAH006.
