81052 Ph sical Barriers-Protected Area The inspector observed that the licensee changed the extent of the pro-tected area on the north side of the Unit 2 site by adding an inner fence which is designated as the protected area barrier.

The new fence adjoins the inner fence from Unit 1 and forms a double fence across the entire north side (lake front) of Units 1 and 2.

The new fence is adequate and appropriate for its intended function.

The licensee is preparing a secu-rity plan change to document this and other changes to the NRC-approved security pla Ph sical Barriers-Vital Areas The inspector noted at the last physical security review that the licensee had complete'd a vital area review, but had not completed all installations of barriers at vital area penetrations.

A performance review and test of the entire system was observed by the inspector from the central alarm station (CAS) and observations were made to confirm satisfactory operation at the secondary alarm station (SAS).

The assessment system, as observed by the inspector, fully covers the areas to be assessed, is adequate for its intended purpose, and con-forms to the NRC-approved security plan.

Inspector Followup Item No. 50-410/84-10-14 is closed.

81070 Access Control-Personnel The inspector noted that the license'e had placed temporary barriers in the access control area to prevent the commingling of searched and unsearched personnel.

It was also noted that, in addition to the badging station described in the NRC-approved security plan, a temporary badge issuing station was erected in the access control area to increase efficiency in issuing badges to contractor employees entering the protected area.

The licensee stated that these changes will be made permanent in September, 1986.

The access control process conforms to the NRC-approved security plan.

81074 Access Control-Vehicles The inspector noted that the licensee had completed review of the vehicle entry port physical protection requirements and concluded that the method of gate control and the approach to the vehicle entry port provide ade-quate protection against unauthorized entry.

It was also noted that other provisions are available to impede or stop vehicular traffic from entering the protected area.

The method of vehicle access control is adequate for its intended purpose.

Inspector Followup Item No. 50-410/84-10-17 is close.

81078 Detection Aids-Protected Area The inspector witnessed and participated in several tests of the perimeter intrusion detection system.

The results of the tests were satisfactory.

The system is adequate and appropriate for its intended function and con-forms to the NRC-approved security plan.

10.

81080 Detection Aids - Vital Areas The inspector reviewed the vital area alarms and requested testing of an inspector selected sample.

The review and tests indicated that the vital area alarms are adequate for thei r intended purpose and are in accordance with the NRC-approved security plan.

Inspector Followup Item No. 50-410/84-10-19 is closed.

11.
