Areas Inspected: Routine, announced preoperational inspection of the radiation protection and radwaste management programs, including radiation protection procedures, respiratory protection program, facilities, and preoperational tests. The inspection involved seven inspector-hours by two NRC inspectors.

Results:

No items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.

General This inspection, which began at 8:30 a.m. on June 18, 1979, was conducted to examine organizational changes; progress made in develop-ment of radiation procedures; and construction of radiation protection, chemistry, and radwaste facilities.

During this brief inspection, the inspectors toured several areas under construction.

Since the last inspection (50-373/79-03), insufficient progress has been made in the areas reviewed to warrant extensive inspection at this time.

Organization Since the last inspection (50-373/79-03), C. Schroe/_r has been promoted to Assistant Technical Staff Supervisor, c.

Lawless to Rad / Chem Supervisor, and L. Shearer to Chemist.

Qualification requirements for persons hol aing the positions Rad / Chem Supervisor and Chemist are listed in Aral N18.1.

Qualifications of persons currently holding these positions will be reviewed during the next inspection.

Exit Interview The inspectors met hriefly with a licensee representative (denoted in Paragraph 1) at the conclusion of the inspection on June 18, 1979.

The inspectors discussed with the licensee the timetable for conducting preoperational inspections of the radiation protection program and testing of radwaste systems.
