New unresolved items identified during this inspection are discussed in paragraph 6.
5.
Independent Inspection Effort The inspector examined the following areas:
a.
Construction status of Unit 2 b.
Level A, B, C,
and D storage areas c.
Concrete and soils laboratory and currentness of calibration of labor-atory equipment
d.
Storage and preventative maintenance program for electrical pene-trations e.
Records of periodic tests performed on valves in emergency cooling water barrier dam (ultimate heat sink-Units 1 and 2) from April, 1978 through April, 1979 f.
Partial grouting of base of refueling canal liner plate in Unit 2 reactor containment building g.
Receiving inspection reports and results of physical and chemical tests performed on reinforcing steel - heat numbers 193705 through 193709, 193718, 193719, and 193721.
No deviations or items of noncompliance were identified.

Lakes, Dams, and Canals
- Review of equality Records, Units 1 and
The inspector examined the following quality records for the Units 1 and
emergency cooling water system (ultimate heat sink) barrier dam:
a
~
Concrete placement release records, concrete placement control records, batch plant inspection records, concrete batch tickets, results of physical tests performed on fine and coarse aggregates, results of in-process testing including slump, air and compressive strength tests, and concrete curing records for pour numbers 1 through 7,
9 through 12, and 17.
b.
Soil compaction records and standard proctor test results for back fillin grids F-7, G-7, G-8, H-9, and I-10.
Acceptance criteria examined by the inspector appear in Unit 1 FSAR and Unit 2 PSAR Sections 2.5 and 3.8 and Appendix 2G, EBASCO specifications FL0-8770-471, FL0-8770-473, and FLO-9560-069, and drawing numbers 8770-G-711 through 8770-G-715.
The following unresolved item was disclosed during review of quality records associated with the barrier dam.
Documentation for the compaction piles which were driven to densify the foundation materials under the barrier dam were not available for review by the inspector in either Unit
, or Unit 2 quality records storage areas.
Discussions with responsible engineers disclosed that the piles had been installed and that, the docu-mentation had apparently been misplaced.
The missing documentation will be reviewed by NRC in a subsequent inspection.
This was identified to the license as Unresolved Item 335/79-18-01 and 389/79-10-01,
"Documentation for Barrier Dam Compaction Piles".
No deviations or items of noncompliance were identifie.

~
Records of the monthly inspection and review of dewatering systems for the Intake Structure for the months of June, 1978 through December, 1978.
b.
Foundation/backfill compaction release records, field density test reports, and results of proctor and grain size distribution tests on foundation materials under Reactor Auxiliary Building (RAB) mudmats and backfill around the walls of the RAB ECCS sump pit.
Acceptance criteria examined by the inspector appear in PSAR Section 2.5 and Appendix 2B, EBASCO specification FL0-2998.471 and FL0-2998.472, and FPGL procedures QI 10.8 and 10.10.
