Skinner, QA Inspector Meeting Summary The Region II Director and members of his staff met with VEPCO management representatives on August 25, 1981 at the Region II office in Atlanta, G The purpose of this meeting was to discuss management effectiveness of the quality assurance (QA) program and current operational issue The inspection staff summarized the results of three QA inspections conducted during the past twelve months at Surry and North Ann Viola-tions, deviations, unresolved items, and inspector followup items identi-fied during these inspections which indicate unacceptable trends in manage-ment control of the operational QA program were discussed. These adverse trends were characterized by the inspection staff as failure to provide adequate management attention to detail, failure to fully analyze licensee and NRC requirements and failure to communicate between various licensee functional area Concerns regarding personnel training were also dis-cusse VEPCO representatives were responsive to these concerns aTid stated that action had been initiated to improve management control over most of these problem areas.

Current operational issues identified in a recent Surry inspection report (50-280/81-22) and other subjects concerning the discipline of operations at North Anna and Surry were brought to management's attentio The candid discussion and exchange of views was beneficial.
