Areas Inspected: A special announced meeting was conducted to discuss the performance of the thrpe Commonwealth Edison Nuclear Stations relative to the actionsibaing taken by Commonwealth Edison to improve its regulatory performance.

Results: Of the areas discussed, no further items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.

Corporate Meeting The third in a series of meetings between corporate management from Commonwealth Edison Company and Region III representatives was held to review the status of corrective actions being taken

by CECO to improve the regulatory performance-of its'. Nuclear

Status of Consultant Contract Commonwealth Edison stated that the contract had been placed

.with the Booz, Allen, and Hamilton Consultant Firm. Pre-

'liminary meetings with the firm have been held with Commonwealth Edison Company in which tentative program schedules were established.

Dr. Bliss has been chosen by CECO to act as liason with the consultant firm. The review of nuclear operations by the consultant is expected to last approximately six months. Region III representatives were informed that representatives from Booz, Allen, and Hamilton would probably go to Region III to consult with staff members in connection with CECO nuclear plant operations. CECO also indicated that'. Region III would be allowed to review the consultant's final report.

procedures. CECO was informed that this would continue to

Task Force Findings Related to the Dresden Equipment Outage Control Problems CECO stated that they are about to finalize the findings associated with the recent outage. control problems experienced at the Dresden Plant. The actions which will fall out of the Task Force findings would be available for Region III r.o review during the next corporate meeting.

Zion Plant Performance D. C. Boyd commented on recent attitude changes, administrative control changes, and management control adjustments that were made at the Zion Nuclear Plant during recent months. The licensee was informed that the incpector was encouraged to see an improvement in all three areas.

It was also stated that it would remain to be seen whether sustained and continued steady improvement in plant operations and personel performance could be maintained, since similar short-term improvements had,~

been seen in the past only to be followed.by degraded operations.

Corporate Movie on " Professionalism" A movie stressing " Professionalism On The Job" that was being shown to Commonwealth Edison employees throughout the company was viewed by the Region III representatives. This movie

' documents the company's stress on " Professionalism" as it pertained to the execution of responsibilities by company employees. The movie highlights doing the job in accordance with procedures, policies and appeals to employee attitudes which foster safe, efficient and high-quality efforts.

According to CECO corporate management, the showing o1 this movie was one of the steps being taken to Laprove the per-formance of its company employees in all its corporate activities.

findings associated with two recent inspections, one at

the La Salle site, and one at the Quad-Cities site. The licensee stated that several of the items of noncompliance of which they were informed appeared to be more severe than warranted. The licensee was told that these matters would be looked into by the Region III representatives.
