Subject:

Arkansas Nuclear One - Unit 2 Docket No. 50-368 License No. NFP-6 Request to Extend Schedule for submitting Additional Information Concerning the First Ten Year Inservice Inspection Relief Requests (TAC No. M76001)

Gentlemen:

In letter 2CAN088915 August 31, 1989 Entergy Operations submitted relief requests for Arkansas Nuclear One. Unit 2 (ANO-2) for the first 10-year interval. These requests were for relief from certain ASME Section XI Inservice Inspection (151) requirements because only limited examinations could be performed. The NRC subsequently requested additional luformation concerning these relief requests in letter dated September 10, 1991 (2CNA099102). In letter dated February 13, 1992 (2CAN029202). Entergy Operations stated that ANO-2 was unable to provide the requested information but committed to submit a best estimate of the percentage of the Code-required coverage by March 31, 1992.

Due to competitive projects involving safety or outage support. Entergy Operations needs additional t.ime to respond to the NhC request for information. Specifically, the AND ISI staff has been tasked with the preparation, performance coordination and data review of the current ANO-1 refueling outage (1R10) ISI Program. In addition, emerging issues such as the IGSCC augmented examinations have required additional effort

.to maintain schedule and completion of these critical examinations.

Based on this. Entergy Operations needs to extend the ANO-2. response date until May 1. 1992. This request has been discussed with the ANO-2 NRR Project Manager.
