'Mr. James P. O'Reilly LER No.83-038 Page Two May 12, 1983 EVENT DESCRIPTION AND PROBABLE CONSEQUENCES On April 15, 1983, with the Plant in Mode 5, Pressurizer Pressure Transmitter IPT-457 was found to be out of tolerance during the performance of a channel calibration. Upon completion of the channel calibration, the pressure test gauge that was used fo r calibration of the transmitter was found to be out of tolerance on the post calibration check.

Corrective action was taken to recalibrate the transmitter, and the channel was declared operable April 22, 1983.

This instrument is required to be operable in Modes 1 and 2 by Technical Specification 3.3.1, and Modes 1, 2, and 3 by Technical Specification 3.3.2.

l There were no adverse consequences from this occurence since the required minimum number of channels were operable.

CAUSE AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS The cause of this event is contributed to a span and zero shif t of the test instrument used in the calibration of-the transmitter.

Maintenance personnel are to continue to check post calibration data.
