DOCKET 50-301 LICENSEE EVENT REPORT 89-010-00 UNANTICIPATED CONTAINMENT PRESSURE TRIP SIGNAL POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT 2 Enclosed is Licensee Event Report 89-010-00 for Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Unit 2. This report is provided in accordance with 10 CFR 50.73 (a) (2) (iv) , "Any' event or condition that resulted in the manual or automatic actuation of any Engineered Safety Feature including the Reactor Protection System."

This report describes the generation of a containment high pressure signal during leak testing of containment penetrations i for Unit 2. Unit 2 was in refueling shutdown with the core unloaded. The Engineered Safety Features had,-therefore, been placed in a condition which-precluded safety injection pump _

operation.

A four-hour ENS telephone notification concerning this event was made on October 8,-1989. Due to licensee's oversight, the telephone notification was not followed by a 30-day written report. This failure to provide a written LER was brought to our attention on September 14, 1990, by the Point Beach NRC. Resident Inspectors.
