SUMMARY

REPORT ASSOCIATED WITH THE NRC STAFFS REVIEW OF THE NORTH ANNA POWER STATION, UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2, SUBSEQUENT LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (EPID NO. L-2020-SLE-0000) (DOCKET: 50-338 AND 50-339)

Dear Mr. Stoddard:

Pursuant to Section 51.29 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted the environmental scoping process and solicited public comments from October 23, 2020, to November 23, 2020. This process determined the scope of the staffs environmental review of the application for subsequent renewal of the renewed facility operating licenses for North Anna Power Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 (North Anna). The scoping process is the first step in the development of a North Anna-specific supplement to NUREG-1437, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession Nos. ML13106A241, ML13106A242, and ML13106A244).

As part of the scoping process, the staff held a public environmental scoping meeting via webinar on November 4, 2020, to solicit public input regarding the scope of the environmental review. The staff also received written comments by letter and through www.regulations.gov.

At the conclusion of the scoping process, the staff prepared the enclosed environmental scoping summary report identifying comments received during the scoping period. In accordance with 10 CFR 51.29(b), the staff will send a copy of the scoping summary report to all participants in the scoping process.

The transcripts of the public scoping meetings are available for public inspection via the NRCs ADAMS from any personal or public computer. The ADAMS Public Electronic Reading Room is accessible at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. The transcript of the meeting is listed under ADAMS Accession No. ML20317A206.
