NRC Actions in Response to Covid-19

  • Accomplished both onsite and remote oversight activities during the ongoing public health emergency, while taking precautions to minimize exposure to COVID-19
  • Some inspections were conducted remotely at plants given the enhanced ability to do remote inspection in combination with targeted on-site inspection aspects
  • As conditions have improved, we have increased our on-site inspection presence
  • The Agency maintained emergency response capabilities within Regional Incident Response Centers and HQ 10

Actions in Response to Covid-19 11

NRC Relief/Exemptions Due to COVID-19

  • Temporary flexibility that maintained continued safe and secure operation, while supporting the national priority of reducing the spread of COVID-19
  • Some of these exemptions include:

- Deferral of some outage-related inspection activities

- Exemption to work hour restrictions in 10 CFR Part 26

- Exemption from performing annual security training per 10 CFR Part 73
