PROCESS CONTROL PROGRAM 1.0 PURPOSE The purpose of the McGuire Nuclear Station Process Contrel Program is to ensure all requirements of the DPC Corporate Process Control Program have been met for each container of solidified radioactive or mixed waste and dewatered radioactive waste shipped for burial at a licensed burial facility. The PCP is applicable only to the solidification or dewatering ofliquid or wet solid radioactive waste.

2.0 COMPOSITION 2.1 The McGuire Nuclear Station PROCESS CONTROL PROGRAM shall consist of:

2.1.1 The Duke Power Company Corporate Process Control Program.

2.1.2 A list of all station-specific procedures that implement the requirements of the Corporate Process Control Program.

2.1.3 McGuire Nuclear Station diagrams, drawings or drawing n numbers showing interfaces between MNS radwaste

,lJ) systems and solidifications and dewatering equipment.

2.1.4 Documentation of G.O. Nuclear Chemistry, MNS Chemistry Manager and MNS Station Manager approval of changes to the Process Control Program.

3.0 EXCEPTIONS 3.1 The McGuire Nuclear Station Process Control Program takes the following exceptions with DPC Corporate Process Control Program:

3.1.1 For Corporate PCP Section 3.1.3, station review and station approval are not required. Corporate review and approval of vendor solidification and dewatering services are sufficient.

SUBJECT:

MCGUIRE NUCLEAR STATION PROCESS CONTROL PROGRAM FILE NO.: MC - 760.00 The following is a sununary of the changes to the attached McGuire Nuclear Station Process Control Program (PCP). This revision to the McGuire Nuclear Station Process 1 Control Program will be Rev.14. This summary lists the portion of the PCP that was l changed, followed by an explanation of the change.

All changes for the McGuire Nuclear Station Process Control Program, Rev.14, were 1 made to Section 2.1.2, IMPLEMENTING PROCEDURES, page M-2.

The Laboratory Method 185 " Spent Resin Handling" describing how laboratory quantities of radioactively contaminated resins are handled, stored, and disposed of, was l p/

s changed back to the procedure CP/0/B/8300/020 "Radwaste Chemsitry Procedure for Ilandling of Laboratory Quantities of Spent Resin".

l All procedure numbers were changed to incorporate the three digit numbering system for the last three digits of the procedure, to be consistent with the numbering system within SAROS.

The following three procedures were deleted:

HP/0/B/1004/04 " Preparation and Shipment of Mechanical Radwaste Materials" HP/0/B/1004/09 " Preparation and Shipment of Processed Radwsste Materials" HP/0/B/1004/14 " Preparation and Shipment of Dewatered Resins" and the preparation and shipment information was consolidated into the procedure, SH/0/B/2004/002 " Preparation and Shipment of Radioactive Waste".

The procedure OP/0/B/6200/88 was deleted.

OP/0/B/6200/094 " Transfer and Dewatering Radwaste Media - Radiok High Integrity Containers" was added because this procedure provides specific instructions i

V

1 for transferring and dewatering the Radlok high integrity container in accordance to

,fq requirements of the Corporate Process Control Program.

U OP/1/B/6200/102 " Unit 1 CM Backwash Tank Operation" and OP/2/B/62J0/102 " Unit 2 CM Backwash Tank Operation" were added because these procedures provide instructions for sampling powdered resins from the condensate polisher backwash tanks for waste classification.

OP/1/B/6200/104 " Unit 1 Operating, Dewatering, and Shipping Liners Filled with Powdered Media and/or Head Resin" and OP/2/B/6200/104 " Unit 2 Operating, Dewatering, and Shipping Liners Filled with Powdered Media and/or Head Resin" were added because these procedures provide instructions for dewatering and shipping Secondary Chemistry System ion exchange resins in accordance with the requirements of the Corporate Process Control Program. ,

OP/1/B/6250/09 " Unit 1 Condensate Polishing Demineralizer Operation" and OP/2/B/6250/09 " Unit 2 Condensate Polishing Demineralizer Operation" were deleted because they are incorrect procedure numbers and these operating procedures no longer contain requirements for the Corporate Process Control Program.  ;

OP/1/B/6700/016 " Operating Unit 1 Steam Generator Blowdown Demineralizers" OP/2/B/6700/016 " Operating Unit 2 Steam Generator Blowdown Demineralizers" were added because these procedures provide instructions for sampling bead resins from f the SG Blowdown demineralizers for waste classification.
