Dear Mr. Morey:

On August 17,1995, t' he U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Generic Letter (GL) 95-07, " Pressure Locking and Thermal Binding of Safety-Related Power-Operated Gate Valves," to all holders of operating licenses or construction permits. The NRC issued GL 95-07 to request that licensees take actions to ensure that safety-related power-operated gate valves I that are susceptible to pressure locking or thermal binding are capable of performing their safety functions.

submitted its 180-day response to GL 95-07 for Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant (Farley), )

Units 1 and 2. The NRC staff reviewed your submittal and requested additionalinformation in a letter dated July 1,1996. In a letter of July 30,1996, you provided the additional information.

In addition, in a letter dated April 13,1999, you submitted an amended page to your February 12,' 1996, GL 95-07 response to correct an error. The NRC staff has reviewed your submittals and finds that the you have adequately addressed the actions requested in j GL 95-07; therefore, we consider GL 95-07 closed for Farley, Units 1 and 2. A copy of the NRC staff's evaluation is enclosed.
