Dear Mr. Denton:

Attachment 1 (Volumes 1 and 2) to this letter contains current information, on an FSAR level, concerning the Colt Diesel Generator installation and tie-in for the Shoreham plant. The information covered contains and supplements the information previously transmitted to you under LILCO letter no. SNRC-1171 of May 31, 1985. As in the case of SNRC 1171, this letter responds to Reference 1. As stated previously in our letter, SNRC-1163, the form in which it is presented is not the same as a revision to the Final Safety Analysis Report, however, the level of detail is equivalent.

The tie-in of the three Colt Emergency Diesel Generators will supplement the three TransAmerica Delaval Diesel Generators at the plant. At present, LILCO plans to submit a formal License Amendment for the tie-in during the early part of 1986. Members of my staff will be in contact with your Project Manager, Mr.

Ralph Caruso, to discuss this amendment and the development of revisions to the Shoreham Technical Specifications. jq
