Russell) dated July 5, 1989 Gentlement In keeping with our commitment to provide the NRC Staff with timely information concerning personnel changes, LILCO announces the following change:

1- J. G. Wynne, the prior Operator Training Supervisor in the Training Department within the Office of Corporate Services is promoted to the position of SNPS Operations Division Manager.

This change-became effective August 27, 1990.

Please be advised that LILCO has reviewed the change to ensure that qualified personnel continue to carry out the duties and responsibilities of-the position described in licensing basisLILCO documents such as the SNPS Updated Safety Analysis Report.

I' t , SNRC-1756 Page 2 In accordance with the referenced letter LILCO will maintain Shorenam in a shutdown condition until it is transferred to an agency of the State of New York. Should this situation change, LILCO will ensure that its qualification commitment for Manager Operations Division is fulfilled or justifiably reduced. Until we are able to transfer Shoreham to LIPA or an agency of the State of New York, LILCO concludes that the designated individual can acceptably carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position and that his lack of operating experience, as described above, has no safety significance at Shoreham because the plant will be maintained in a shutdown condition.
