Dear Mr. Regan:

This is in response to your letter of January 22, 1982, regarding the proposed construction of the Skagit/Hanford Nuclear Project by the Puget Sound Power and Light Company to be located at Richland, Washington. In that letter you invited the Department of Energy (DOE) to request designation as a cooperating agency in the preparation of the environmental impact statement (EIS) for the project to be prepared by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. DOE hereby requests designation as a cooperating agency" in the EIS preparation.

Mr. Ken Bracken, Director of the Facility and Site Services Division at our Richland Operations Office, is designated as the point of contact for the Department for this project.

If you have any questions regarding the project, please call Mr. Bracken at (FTS 444-7770). Questions regarding DOE's NEPA process may be directed to Mr. Ray Pelletier (202-252-4610).
