Dear Judges Kelley,

Bright and Carpenter, Attached are filled-out subpcena forms for witnesses not called by CP&L and/or the NSC Staff related to Contentions h1 and 65.

These are eersons with direct knowledge of the subject matter of these contentions. Please advise me if any further showing of need for these nersons' testimony is required. The information and objects they are asked to bring, with them are clearly relevant.

With respect to Staff inspector Geoege Maxwell, he has direct knowledge of (1) how the pipe hanger weld defects were first discovered (2) CP&L's response (s) to these discoveries (3) actual occurrences on-site at the Herris plant cdfcerning nine hangers, defects therein, repairs and insnections thereof, and further inspection by N9C; (h) annlicable nrocedures and rules involved in pipe hanger construction and inspection and QA/00. Under 10 h CPR 2.720(h)(2)(1), Maxwell's direct knowled Fe o r these facts, oo gno which are not known to NRC 's witnesses in the proceeding, is good o

@x cause to have Maxwell either subpoenaed or deposed. I request 38 gg a subnoena cince the evidence of Maxwell's direct exnerience m
