By letters dated February 1,1983 and November 24, 1982 Al abama Power Company requested Administrative Changes to Technical Specifications 3.6.1.7 and 4.6.1.7.2 for Units 1 and 2 respectively.

At a recent meeting, the NRC staff requested that Alabama Power Company clarify when the eight inch mini-purge vents would be opened, This submittal modifies the attached proposed technical specification changes and clarifies the bases to state that these valves will be used for the safety related reasons of containment pressure and containment radiological control.

This submittal is considered to be a clarification of the previo.ss technical specification change requests and as such neither involves a safety issue or significant hazards consideration nor requires any additional license amendment fee remittance.

In accordance with 10CFR50.90, three (3) signed originals and 40 copies of this clarification are enclosed. A copy of this change has been sent to the Alabama State Designee, Dr. I. L. Myers, in accordance with 10CFR50.91(b).
